Belize Barrier Reef San Pedro Ambergris Caye Island

Belize Barrier Reef

The Belize Barrier Reef is a series of coral reefs stretching the length of the Belize Central America coastline. You will find the reef in the northern part of Belize approximately 300 meters off the shoreline. However in the southern part of Belize, the reef is quite a bit further out from the shoreline. It will be approximately a 25 mile boat ride to dive or snorkel the reef in that part of Belize.

Because of the close proximity to the Belize Barrier Reef, the Island of Ambergris Caye Belize is most often the popular place for tourist to travel if they want to recreation around the Belize Barrier Reef.

Just off the shore of San Pedro Town Belize, which is the most popular area of Ambergris Caye Island, you can see the waves breaking on the reef. This is a beautiful site and sound when you are relaxing on your oceanfront balcony of your vacation condo or person residence.

There is also the Hol Chan Marine Reserve where most all the diving tours take you to view and experience the marine life of the Belize Barrier Reef. This is an amazing adventure and some say one of the best places in the world to Scuba dive or Snorkel.
